A Heartfelt thanks from our BBGV Board members to all our sponsors, members and friends who support our 2006 fun run for charity. Almost 4,000 runners and walkers attended this year’s 7th annual fun run for charity in spite of bad weather reports. They enjoyed the atmosphere created by the Sapphire Band from the Caravelle hotel together with the Saigon Saigon Bears. The runners were served with food from Kinh Do, Pepperonis, Phu Ly, Saigon Indian, Sofitel Plaza hotel. New Zealand Natural ice cream was very popular to cool off the runners. Coca Cola provided all the joy water and soft drinks for the event.
Nestle were giving runner’s samples of Milo, all of these companies sponsored in-kind for the event.
Cheer teams from the Diamond sponsors, HSBC and Prudential danced and sang on stage. Gold sponsors were, BP, Customer Insights & Clarks. Silver sponsors were, British International School, CBRE, Decathlon, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Zuellig Pharma, who were giving out samples of Perskindol for runners. SOS was present in case of any emergency, glad to report that there were none!
This year’s winners were:
• First Place Male – Stephen Hinwood won a 6 mth gym membership to the Landmark gym
• First Place Female – Shelly Clowes won a 6 mth gym membership to the Landmark gym
• First Place Teenager – Elliot Hoare won a Nike shoe voucher
• Second Place Teenager – Nguyen Hang Viet Thong won a Nike shoe voucher
• First Place girl, under 12 years – Emma Minge won a Nike shoe voucher
• First Place boy under 12 years - Le Thanh Cong won a Nike shoe voucher
There were 4 spot prizes:
• Best Finish – David Minge won a SOS large medical kit
• Most dedicated runner/walker – Mrs Thu won a two night stay at the Hoi An Pacific Hotel
• Best Smile – was won by a runner from Flight Centre won a Nike shoe voucher
• Proud sign carrier – was won by a runner/walker from Prudential won a SOS large medical kit
• Spot audience prize of two bottles of sparkling grape juice donated by Phu Ly was also given
The BBGV fun run made a total of just over US $ 25,000 for our charities in and around HCMC, which was more than last year. Some charities to benefit from our fun run this year are:
• Education Encouragement Organization
• Helmets for kids
• Saigon Children’s Charity small grant scheme
